George Pavlou is Professor of Communication Networks coordinating activities in networking and network/service management in the Communication and Information Systems Group at the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College London. He received a Ph.D. degree from the same university for his thesis titled "Telecommunications Management Network: a Novel Approach Towards its Architecture and Realisation Through Object-Oriented Software Platforms". Before joining University College London in the beginning of 2008, he was Professor at Surrey University leading research activities in networking and network/service management. His research interests focus on networking and network & service management and have included aspects such as traffic engineering, quality of service management, self-organised ad hoc/mesh networks, policy-based systems, autonomic networking, information-centric networking, software defined networking, multimedia services and communications middleware. Over the last 20 years he has undertaken and directed research in these areas, where he published extensively.He is on the editorial boards of the IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management, the IEEE Communications, the IEEE Communication Surveys & Tutorials and the Springer Journal of Network and System Management. He is also involved in a number of international conference program committees. He has consulted for many communications companies in the UK and Europe and has contributed to standardisation activities in ISO, ITU-T, TMF and IRTF/IETF.
